In recent years, Nortuna AS has built a hatchery in Cape Verde, specifically on the island of São Vicente. We aim to be the first in the world to produce Atlantic bluefin tuna, from eggs to food fish. We therefore need eager and skilled employees to be part of this exciting adventure. Here you will have the opportunity to be a pioneer in farming a new and exciting fish species in an exciting and exotic location. 

QUALIFICATIONS FARM TECHNICIAN/DEPUTY SEA

  • Certificate of apprenticeship in aquaculture or other relevant education 

  • Experience from operation of fish farms 

  • Experience from marine species beyond salmon/trout is an advantage 

  • Must have experience with service boat handling, hold a crane operator certificate and in general have extensive experience from marine operations such as mooring, net cleaning/change and the like 

  • Experience with handling of various technical and mechanical fish farm equipment is an advantage

QUALIFICATIONS FISH CULTURIST/DEPUTY HATCHERY

  • Higher education in aquaculture or biology. Extensive relevant experience can compensate for lack of documented formal education 

  • Experience from marine fry production, including cultivation of algae, rotifers, artemia, Copepods etc. 

  • Good understanding of and experience with all aspects related to operations of a hatchery, including biosecurity and handling/maintenance of technical equipment.

OTHERWISE, THE FOLLOWING APPLIES TO BOTH POSITIONS

  • Good biological understanding and ability to read fish behavior 

  • Experience from collecting and handling eggs from marine species 

  • Good understanding of and good attitudes to HSE and the ability to assess the nature of the work and carry out risk assessments prior to and during operations 

  • Accuracy and punctuality are important, but also the ability to adapt to any changes in way of working caused by the extensive Company growth expected. 

  • Good sense of responsibility, and must be able to work both independently and in teams 

  • Contribute to an efficient, positive, and respectful communication in an international and multicultural environment 

  • Master the use of Office programs such as Word and Excel, for record keeping and documentation 

  • Communicate well in English orally and in writing (Portuguese is an advantage, but not required) 

  • Normal good health and physique 

  • A class B driver's license is an advantage
